About this audiobook
In 1975, Ray Dalio founded an investment firm, Bridgewater Associates, out of his two-bedroom apartment in New York City. Forty years later, Bridgewater has made more money for its clients than any other hedge fund in history and grown into the fifth most important private company in the United States, according to Fortune magazine. Dalio himself has been named to Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world. Along the way, Dalio discovered a set of unique principles that have led to Bridgewater's exceptionally effective culture, which he describes as "an idea meritocracy that strives to achieve meaningful work and meaningful relationships through radical transparency." It is these principles, and not anything special about Dalio—who grew up an ordinary kid in a middle-class Long Island neighborhood—that he believes are the reason behind his success.
In Principles, Dalio shares what he's learned over the course of his remarkable career. He argues that life, management, economics, and investing can all be systemized into rules and understood like machines. The book's hundreds of practical lessons, which are built around his cornerstones of "radical truth" and "radical transparency," include Dalio laying out the most effective ways for individuals and organizations to make decisions, approach challenges, and build strong teams. He also describes the innovative tools the firm uses to bring an idea meritocracy to life, such as creating "baseball cards" for all employees that distill their strengths and weaknesses, and employing computerized decision-making systems to make believability-weighted decisions. While the book brims with novel ideas for organizations and institutions, Principles also offers a clear, straightforward approach to decision-making that Dalio believes anyone can apply, no matter what they're seeking to achieve.
Here, from a man who has been called both "the Steve Jobs of investing" and "the philosopher king of the financial universe" (CIO magazine), is a rare opportunity to gain proven advice unlike anything you'll find in the conventional business press.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Life changing. Thanks, Ray Dalio. You've truly completed this phase of your life!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book by Ray Dalio is good. I won't go so far as to say it is excellent because it is long, and you will find some repetition in the book. Ray Dalio divided the book into three sections - his autobiography (of sorts), principles for life, and principles for business. I found the first section most interesting. This is where he described his journey, his mistakes, and his successes. The second section - principles for life - is superb as well. When he reached the third section, I believe he faltered. The principles are excellent. There is no doubt about this. But, I felt that most people don't apply all of them. I assume he applied all the principles but did not explain where he failed. This section was a bit tedious, and I quickly went through the last chapters. If the book was shorter by about 50 pages, it would be more effective.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Very dense and probably best to buy that hard copy as a reference to building out your systems!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I decided to read this book after hearing Ray Dalio speak in Abu Dhabi. Amazing book , great voice acting. Thanks

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It’s a game changer! Highly recommend for entrepreneurs and management teams.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The best book/audiobook because it have widen my viewpoint of the world and the mechanics of how we should improve, maximize our potential and with the people we interact. I have recognized some same thoughts about automation. But Ray's experience explained it well and how to achieve a better understanding of it.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Often we read books about Steve Jobs and Elon Musk written by other people which tries to understand how these guys function. The views are still third party.
Ray Dalio, on the other hand, wrote a book on his way of dealing with the world. For the first time ever you can see through a brain of a billionaire. He doesn't only shares his own set of principles, he tells you how to build your own set of principles by embracing your reality and your world. This book is insanely rational and analytical and teaches you how to look at everything related to you objectively. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5An absolute must read. Not only it gives an idea the way to run a bussiness but also about life as a whole.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Principles is a treasure trove. Lots of very valuable lessons that I will definitely apply!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Awesome book. Recommend it for all, precise and straight to the point
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Work principles is going to be a once every 6 months kinda of book for me. Taught me about core values, building a culture through meaningful relationships, systemized decision making, using algorithms to plot out data and decisions instead of having people do it, process flow diagrams, and thinking of the organization as a machine.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It is a bible for Every hr employee . .
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I like the systematic approach that Ray Dalio uses to handle not only his financial decisions but also his business. There are pros and cons as in everything in any leadership style, but the meritocracy approach certainly has a good point. Transparency and integrity between a group vital to any business success.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Fascinating book sharing a lot of useful and insightful ideas and information.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Ray is a legend, a humble legend.
If only
1) people seeks out and internalise his wisdom
2) self challenge to be better and take the harder road (or just sitting and consume crap)
3) and be able to ask the RIGHT questions ..
#MustRead/Listen - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I liked it. I would have give it 5-stars if he could use more examples of other companies. Not everyone has the same company as bridgewater
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Highly recommended. Great book for leadership and purpose driven in day to day and working life. Also, good for development in management skills.
